Kyra Minturn, who was born August 19, 1965 is an American actress. She is also an actor and producer. She is best known for her role as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in the TNT crime drama The Closer. Sedgwick was honored with the Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award for her portrayal as Johnson in 2007. Following the seventh season Sedgwick received a Golden Globe Award in 2007 as well as an Emmy Award in 2010. The series ended August 13, 2012. Sedgwick is also known for her recurring role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, playing Madeline Wuntch. Sedgwick won the Golden Globe Award for her performance in Something to Talk About (1995). Sedgwick's film credits include Oliver Stone's Born on the Fourth of July (1989) and Cameron Crowe's Singles (1992), Heart and Souls (1993), Phenomenon (1996) and What's Cooking (2000), Secondhand Lions (2003), The Game Plan (2007), and The Possession (2012). Sedgwick is the daughter of Patricia Rosenwald who is an educator therapy for families, a venture capitalist as well as Henry Dwight Sedgwick VII, a speech therapist. Her mother was Jewish and her father was Episcopalian. Sedgwick was of English descent. Sedgwick declares herself Jewish, and she has claimed that she attends in Passover seders.
